Let me introduce myself.
I am in my final year and expecting to graduate this year. I study BSc (Hon) Construction Project Management and have high passion in property and construction industry.
Why did you decide to join HW Raacing Team?
At first I decided to join the team to have some fun during my final year and bring some memories with me when I graduate later. I would like to learn new set of skills as automotive is not my forte plus I have zero knowledge and experience in it. I always thirst for new knowledge and love to challenge myself to do something out of my comfort zone. Hence, I signed up for the team to challenge myself to become a better individual.
What have you learned so far in terms of technical knowledge and/or personal growth?
Gradually, I start falling in love in the diversity of skills adopted in managing the whole racing squad. I made a right decision in joining this team despite of the uncertainty when I joined this in the beginning. I don't know what to expect and the journey even though has been pretty overwhelming but rewarding at the same time. There is no distinctive differences in field category when it comes to management as the fundamental value is similar to be applied in all organisational structure. The intricate part of technicality when it comes to designing, developing and assembling the car differentiate the level of understanding and comprehension of individuals in the team. Nevertheless, all parties play a crucial role in the team be it non-technical and technical teams as the integration and collaboration between all parties will ensure the team success rate and work delivery efficiency.
The maturity level in emotions handling and political management to ensure the diversity of team background in terms of culture, multidisciplinary and level of experience, allow me to grow as better individual as these priceless knowledge give me a better insight on how to become a good leader. As a leader we are not only empowering the heads but also the crews who made up the whole team. I would say, the whole team has a significant growth from day one up until now through everyone continuous effort and improvement, which truly make me proud of our team. From zero to hero that's what I could say about the team.
Any encouragement you would like to give to newcomers or to anyone in public?
If we want to go fast do it alone and if we want to go far do it together. No matter how good we are individually, we cannot be Jack of all trades without any hiccups and mistake in the perfectionist illusions we made for ourselves. A good teamwork will define the success rate and efficiency in your project delivery. In a project, there will be a lot of diversity and level of maturity and experience in the whole team. Hence, good governance, high efficiency in collaboration and integration will ensure a good project outcome can be delivered in professional manner. There is always room for improvement and growth so always be humble and ready to learn new things.
The most expensive knowledge comes from experience, the most expensive experience comes from mistakes and failures, and the most expensive mistakes/failures are when those mistakes and failures were made as feedback and self reflection for self-improvement.
So, do not be afraid to come out from your comfort zone and do something extraordinary because ordinary is boring. Be brave enough to make a mistake and face a failure because only then you will learn a right and true way of doing things and which blind holes you should avoid in your life. Be a good fighter and a good survivor at the same time. You are born to do something great.
